PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — A top member of Cambodia's ruling party has denied opposition claims of winning Sunday's general election, but acknowledged that the opposition did make significant gains in parliament.Chhieng Vun of the Cambodian People's Party was responding to an emailed statement by the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party that said it had won the race for 123 National Assembly seats.
Chhieng Vun said unofficial results compiled by his party showed it winning 68 to 73 seats. But he said the CNRP had won about 50 seats — making significant gains on the 29 seats it had held in the outgoing parliament.
